Semantic Media Wiki Configuration vs Media Wiki Configuration

The article ends with the link "For MW specific information and alternatives, see here.". My Questions is: Are the settings described on the MW page alternatives or additionally required steps? In other words: do I have to make any additional Semantic Media Wiki specific changes if I already configured MW to use Pretty URIs ? If so, which are required in this scenario ?

Just by looking at it I believe that the SMW related steps have to be taken additionally to the ones you do for MW anyway. Have not done this myself though.
