The Spring 2013 SMWCon was held March 20-22 in New York City. SMWCon is a twice-yearly event for users and developers of Semantic MediaWiki.

Location

The Spring 2013 SMWCon was held at the ITP, or the Interactive Telecommunications Program, a department of New York University, in New York City, in the United States. ITP is located at 721 Broadway, between Washington Pl. and Waverly Pl., in New York's Greenwich Village neighborhood.

ITP is a graduate program focused on a multi-disciplinary approach to communication technology; they describe themselves as "a center for the recently possible."

	Modeling an Enterprise Architecture with SMW, My colleagues and I at Cogeco Cable, Montreal, Canada, have been using SMW to model our application, data and business process architectures and mapping them to a telecom industry reference architecture called Frameworx. 	"Data is data" and the future of data browsing, Toward a unified theory of data browsing, and what it means for SMW's browsing functionality, including Semantic Drilldown and others. Yaron Koren (40 mins) Smarter Wikis through Integrated Natural Language Processing Assistants, Presenting the Semantic Assistants Wiki-NLP integration architecture for automatically deriving SMW metadata from wiki contents through Natural Language Processing (NLP) and its application in the IntelliGenWiki for genomics research as well as the ReqWiki system for Software Requirements Engineering. Those planning to attend SMWCon should consider reserving a room as soon as possible, since hotels in Manhattan can sometimes get filled up quickly. The following are all moderately-priced hotels and hostels in the area around ITP:
