Semantic MediaWiki got a new look
Oct 31 2010. The SMW Project has launched its redesigned homepage and logo. The new homepage has a more functional structure and more direct links to relevant sections, while hopefully not being too overwhelming. The new logo provides a expressive, recognisable, and friendly face to the project. Downloadable versions of the logo can soon be found on the page SMW logo. The frame, colour scheme, and font will also be used to create a more unified appearance for logos of SMW extensions.
The homepage also features a new Wiki of the Month section that introduces one exciting and inspiring SMW site each month. The new series will be useful for users to learn about SMW, but also for wiki communities and tool developers to showcase their projects. Don't miss your opportunity of getting featured! Contact wikiofthemonth(at)semantic-mediawiki.org for proposing a site as Wiki of the Month.
These changes largely complete a number of action items that have been discussed at recent SMWCons (the logo actually has been discussed since more than a year now). Various further changes will still happen, e.g. to improve the look of sub-pages and to change language versions. Some details could also still change but the basic new style and "corporate identity" should be stable now.
This is a big step forward for the project, and we would like to thank everybody who contributed to these efforts. The new style honours many of the comments we got.
