CompGen runs a regular MediaWiki with thousands of pages on genealogical research. There are also quite a few databases and other IT resources made available by the Verein für Computergenealogie e.V. CompGen.

This talk presents the ongoing semantification efforts using Semantic MediaWiki as a prototype platform.

The prototype use case is the semantification of Address books. Some 400 address books regular MediaWiki pages are taken as input and converted to Semantic MediaWiki format. The data is enriched with SQL-based data from Gedbas4all and SPARQL data from Wikidata. Platform independent Named Parameterized Queries for are used to retrieve subsets of the data that stakeholders might be interested in. The technologies SPARQL, SQL and SMW-Ask are hidden on purpose. With Federated Queries, the subsets from the diverse sources are interlinked and analyzed. Artificial intelligence is used for curating new data and allowing to build new queries and initiate queries in natural language.
