I would like to present a talk about the benefits and drawbacks of explicitly targeting LTS releases of MediaWiki for support, rather than using the most recent stable release. I plan to draw on my experiences of how targeting LTS releases impacts debugging client issues, impacts the upgrade process, and otherwise at simplifies MediaWiki support at times and complicates it at other times. Topics include handling of deprecations and breaking changes, availability and usefulness of documentation, and security concerns.
