October 8, 2012. A new reference site for web developers, WebPlatform.org, was launched by a consortium of companies and organizations that includes the W3C, Adobe, Facebook, Google, HP, Microsoft, Nokia, Mozilla and Opera. The core of the site is Web Platform Docs, a wiki that holds information about web syntax and development. Web Platform Docs runs on Semantic MediaWiki, and makes extensive use of SMW and related extensions such as Semantic Forms.

WebPlatform.org and Web Platform Docs have already received coverage in online news sources such as Wired Webmonkey, TechCrunch, Engadget and TheNextWeb, though so far with little mention of the technology used to power the site.
