SMWAdmin is a special page that provides functions for the software administrators of Semantic MediaWiki. This special page was introduced in Semantic MediaWiki Semantic MediaWiki 0.3Released on 7 April 2006 and compatible with MW 1.5.x - 1.7.x.. Semantic MediaWiki 2.5.0Released on 14 March 2017 and compatible with MW 1.23.0 - 1.29.x. renamed this special page to special page "SemanticMediaWiki"Provides functions for wiki administrators that assist in doing their administration work and modernized as well as extended it substantially.1 The name "SMWAdmin" is now only an alias for "SemanticMediaWiki" to keep the page accessible for legacy reasons.2

Functions[edit]

The following functions are provided:

  1. Database installation and upgrade (since Semantic MediaWiki 1.0Released on 31 December 2007 and compatible with MW 1.9.x - 1.12.x.)
    This function allows to install and upgrade Semantic MediaWiki in case no shell access to the server is available. See the help page on installing Semantic MediaWiki for further information.
  2. Data repair and upgrade (since Semantic MediaWiki 1.4.0Released on 21 November 2008 and compatible with MW 1.13.x - 1.16.x.)
    This function allows to refresh and repair the data stored in the semantic backend in case no shell access to the server is available. See the help page on repairing Semantic MediaWiki's data for further information.
  3. Configuration settings (since Semantic MediaWiki 1.9.0Released on 3 January 2014 and compatible with MW 1.19.0 - 1.22.x.)
    This function allows to display all parameters related to Semantic MediaWiki with their settings. See the help page on configuring Semantic MediaWiki for details on individual parameters and their settings.
  4. Object ID lookup (since Semantic MediaWiki 1.9.2Released on 18 April 2014 and compatible with MW 1.19.0 - 1.22.x.)
    This function allows to retrieve more information about specific object IDs which may be useful while identifying a specific problem causing maintenance script "rebuildData.php"Allows to rebuild all the semantic data for a selected data backend/store to fail. See the help page on looking up Object IDs for further information.
  5. Object ID disposal (sinceSemantic MediaWiki 2.0.0Released on 4 August 2014 and compatible with MW 1.19.0 - 1.24.x.)3
    This function allows to remove specific object IDs. This may be useful if a full data rebuild is not an option with a specific object ID creating a problem which causes maintenance script "rebuildData.php"Allows to rebuild all the semantic data for a selected data backend/store to fail. See the help page on remove Object IDs for further information.
    NoteNote:  This is an invasive action to the data store, so handle this feature with care.
  6. Announce your wiki (since Semantic MediaWiki 1.1.0Released on 21 April 2008 and compatible with MW 1.10.x - 1.13.x.)
    This function allows to publicise on "semantic-mediawiki.org" that an MediaWiki installation using Semantic MediaWiki is being used. See the help page on registering a wiki using Semantic MediaWiki for further information.

Access restrictions[edit]

This special page requires the "smw-admin" permission and is by default granted to the "administrator" and "administrator (Semantic MediaWiki)" user groups. See the help page on user rights and groups for further information.

For users who do not have the required permission, Special:SMWAdmin will not be visible or accessible via the Special:SpecialPages.
